As I stand here and look in the mirror,
the beauty in me, I can see clearer.
I am not focusing on all the things I see wrong,
instead, I am marveling at God’s love song.
One that echoes beauty through my soul,
where loving me is the goal.
From the top of my head to soles of my feet,
masterfully crafted and eternally unique.
The back and forth thoughts race in my head,
constantly worrying about what others have said.
Do I fulfill the dreams in my heart,
or do I fit into the world and play my part?
No one has dreams that don’t seem small.
Often, we place them to the side when reality gives us a call.
But I ask you: Why can’t you have more?
And who said that the ceiling was your floor?
It disguises itself in many ways like a camouflage.
I’m talking about self-sabotage.
It creeps up every now and again,
every time you think you are starting to win.
What does sabotage look like for you?
What are the things it won’t permit you to do?
You ever been feeling good about life or a relationship,
then all of sudden thoughts come, of scenarios that will end it.
